Can't see the Kelley for the Trees

Hong Kong is much more beautiful than I imagined, or at least the 'new territories' are. The place I'm living is in the middle of a wooded area on the sea -- there happens to be a university nearby, but it doesn't ruin the majority of the forest because of the way it's built. At least, in my opinion.

The city itself is easy enough to get around in, but it lacks the natural beauty of, well, nature. The few parks that exist are nice, but you can always see a towering skyscraper somewhere on the horizon. The Peak, the closest thing they have to a mountain, is still fairly well forested. Nonetheless it made me realize what the island of Hong Kong must have once looked like.

As you can probably implicitly tell, I'm very much for living amongst the trees -- as long as my particular tree has clear water, space for kitties and something approaching MATLAB.
